NCLEX results
This is the info I have:
* the average time it takes to find out if you passed the NCLEX is about 3 days (don't freak of it takes longer. I've heard that if they have not processed your degree info then it may take longer than the average. One girl that I knew waited 14 days b/c she was taking a class for her general education and it took her instructor a while to post the grades and such)
* you can check to see if you passed by looking at the following website http://www2.dca.ca.gov/pls/wllpub/wllqryna$lcev2.startup?p_qte_code=RN&p_qte_pgm_code=7800 (this website updates daily yet seems to be a day behind the current date. This means they update it on Saturday with new info from Friday).
* It's true what they say about there "not really being a way to study for it". I combined reading with LOTS of test questions from multiple sources. I think this is individual for each person. I was scheduled to take the test at 8am, so I made sure to do my practice test questions at that time to get myself used to testing in the morning.
* The test is designed in a way that makes you feel as if you have missed alot of questions and as a result the thought that you failed comes at you quite often while you wait for the results. Try to stay calm so your family does not move out just to get away from you.
* If your scheduled to take it in Roseville the Best Western on Harding is reasonably priced and it is about 5-10 min from the testing center. They have free high speed wireless internet so bring your laptop and you can review with your online sources the night before. They also had a coffee pot and refrigerator so I brought my coffee and some snacks.
* Eat a good meal the night before, b/c if your anything like me anything you ate in the morning could feel like it's not gonna stay where you put it. There's a good resturaunt near the hotel called Claim Jumpers. The food was really good and the prices were reasonable.
* Lastly and most importantly....Good Luck Everyone. We have been together for 2 years and so I feel as if I can safetly say that we are all very smart individuals. We know the information. You will pass.

I found him through the aftercollege site. He wanted me to pass along this information to you guys because if you have your IP and are still searching for somewhere to work there are a number of positions available that he can direct you to.
Hope this helps :)

NCLEX
I found my IP like Liana did - on the website. Also, I received my Eligibility notice (dated 12/26) in the same envelope as my request for transcripts (dated 12/21) and the Candidate Bulletin. I registered with Pearson Vue at about 7pm on 12/27 and had my ATT by the next morning's email. I'm scheduled to take the NCLEX in Roseville Jan 24th! Schedule your test asap as there are not many appointments available in January. Good luck to all, Jen

Board of Registered Nursing
Hey all FYI
I just got a letter from the board of registered nursing with a check mark next to some items needed to be completed before it can be processed. It said that I still needed to send in a transcipt with posted degree after graduation. Thinking I did something wrong, I contacted M. Neville and she said that this is what the evaluations office will send to the board after they get them processed. Just thought I would let you all know in case your heart stutters to a stop like mine did.

Graduation Music
Okay folks,
We need to choose some music for our graduation pinning ceremony and only 3 of you responded to my previous post.
So here's the list so far:
"Do I make u proud" by Taylor Hicks
"Wonderful World" Louis Armstrong's
"The Long And Winding Road" Paul McCartney
"Lean On Me" Bill Withers
"Imagine" John Lennon
“Don't you forget about me” by Simple Minds
“My wish” by Rascal Flatts
“Don’t dream it’s over” Crowded house
If you have an idea for a song let me know so I can add it to the list and get a copy of the songs to Mary Neville. You need to decide what songs you want in the slide show and what songs you want played during the ceremony.
I need your song selections AND pictures by December 5th.
You can email them to me at iridemyownmc@yahoo.com or call my cell, (209) 815-3139 and if you have a CD of photos we can meet up and I'll make sure to return the disc back to you.
December 5th people!!! If you don't get your photos in by then and you dont see yourself on the show. I don't want to hear it. Please don't hassle me you've had notice since the beginning of the summer. If I don't get any responses(like before).... I'm going to keep the slide show how it is with the songs that are already on it.
I'll keep you all posted.

Hospital Window
A great note for all to read it will take just 37 seconds to read this and change your thinking:
Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.
Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.
The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.
One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it. In his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words. Days and weeks passed.
One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.
As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.
It faced a blank wall.
The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.
She said, 'Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you.'
Epilogue: There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations. Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

Graduation Stuff
I am forwarding this (Thanks to Katie!) from Shelba:
Spread the word...Bring $10.00 cash or a check made out to San Joaquin County 4-H Exchange at the time of the rehearsal. My daughter and a friend will set up the stage and do a lot of little things that day. The 125 poinsettias were ordered in May so they would be available on Dec 20. They are 6 1/2 inch pots, florist quality. There will be an area on stage right for photos this time, and we are still dreaming this up(I see an arch, fake pointsettias, and a sign saying class of 2007)
After the pinning, everyone needs to come get one poinsettia to take home. They will all be red, standard plants(as opposed to winter rose, white, or pink flowers)
Take care,
Shelba Durston
Also, please remember to bring ceil blue scrubs, lab jackets and/or books you will no longer need to the rehearsal to donate to the SNA and Nursing Success Program for those that may need them.

Regarding ATI Results
OB ATI results are already posted at your ATI My Results page online. I was confused about the Levels but here it is in a nutshell:
Level 3 is the best and exceeds standards, Level 2 is below that and exceeds minimum standards, Level 1 meets minimum standards, below Level 1 is the worst (It explains this on the last page of your results).
Per the Memo from the Nursing Office dated 8/22/07 (page one of the red papers that have the codes on them) it states:
"All the nursing program courses are now requiring completion of the ATI content exams with a Level 2 minimum score. If you do not achieve the required score on the secured exam, you will have the opportunity to complete an on-line unsecured exam, obtain a minimal score of 85%, and meet the ATI testing criteria for the course."
So, if you got Level 2 or 3 you're good and do not have to do anything else. If you scored Level 1 or below you need to complete the unsecured exam with 85% and get a copy to the Nursing Office.

Preceptor Sign-up List for N9
I ended up with one of the lists so I wanted to make sure that y'all got a chance to view it. I only typed the location, the preceptor's initials and the shift to keep their confidentiality but at least we can see what shifts are located where. PS They are in the order that was on the original list so they will be easy to find on Thursday. Good luck to all, Jenifer
N9 final

peaches uniforms
If anyone is interested in ordering any of these uniforms just let me know I think that I can swing a great deal if we all order together. I think that there are two dress styles that they are willing to let us have if we all agree. Here is the two samples:

Music for the slide show...
any ideas??
I put a small slide show together over the summer, but I'm still collecting pictures people! That means, if you have pictures from school, I need them! Get ahold of me through my email, iridemyownmc@yahoo.com or better yet, burn them on a cd and give them to me during lecture.
The songs I have on the slide show right now are:
Don't you (forget about me), by Simple Minds (from the Breakfast Club soundtrack)
Don't dream its over, By Crowded House
