Skills checkoff list book

If anyone is in desperate need of a small blue book (the one with the checkoff lists), I have an extra blank one. It's not perfect, but if you need it I have one. Let me know and I'll figure out a way to get it to you. If no one needs it just yet, I'll still hold on to it just in case :)

Otherwise, have a good summer!

PS Thanks to everyone that helped with the SNA this semester... Especially Sandra ;) and Mrs Batson!! It was tough to learn it from scratch but it's rock'n and roll'n now - 80 people showed to meeting on May 14th! That was my last meeting as Pres and the newly elected officers will be taking over in August.

See you next fall,

Just a random question

I recently went to the doctor and found that I have iron deficiency anemia. (I had the same problem last semester.) Anyway, she said to take 325 mg of ferrous sulfate three times a day. I took 325 mg this morning and I felt the worst nausea I've felt in a while. Does anyone have any idea what food I should take with it? I read that it should be taken on an empty stomach, but I don't know if I can do that.

Thanks,
Lindsay

Questions answered about next semester!

Hello Mrs. Azevedo!
There has been a lot of confusion and rumors about the 4th semester process for registration. There are many of us currently in third semester that are wondering how to register for N9 and N10; i.e. do we just pick a class number from the list? How does the assignment of the preceptor work? Mrs. Batson said that you were the one to contact and we were wondering if you could come to her lecture room between 0800-1200 on Monday May 7th or May 14th (prior to registration dates) and explain it to us. I’m sure that the other half of us that are in third semester – now taking N7 with Mrs. Antaran, would appreciate the info also. In Mrs. Batson’s class, we usually test from 0800-0900 but she said that she would allow time for you to come before or after the test. She also suggested that if you were unable to join us, you can email the info to her (I cc’d this email to both of her emails), she will share it with us.
Thank you, Jenifer Williams, SNA President

Hi Jenifer, I lecture the same time you have class, but thanks for the invite. I have just placed 4 copies of the list of N9 preceptors in Ms. Batson and Antaran's mail box. I've asked them to circulate them the next couple times you meet so you can make a mini list of who you may want to sign-up for as a preceptor. Sign-ups are done by lottery...you'll draw a poker chip with a number on it and we'll use that order for sign-ups. I will meet all of you on Thursday, May 17 from 1400- 1600 in the EMSTI lecture building off March Lane, to sign-up. You cannot sign up for people who cannot make that date. They will sign-in in the fall. Hope this helps clarify. Please enter this on the student blog, and an announcement will go out to each of you via computer today or tomorrow. Share with those who aren't on line, please. As for registration...it doesn't matter who or where you sign into. It's all decided by who you choose for a preceptor. TAz

Hey, there's a party.............and you all are invited! Please come to the May 24th 2007 graduation of your upper classmen, from the RN program! Soon, you will be here at this point...and believe me, it comes on so quickly, you are there before you know it!May 24th, 2007 at 7 pm, Atherton Auditorium, Delta CollegeNo tickets required.

A little bit of advice for you all:Take lots of pictures! Get your slide show person nominated now, so that he/she can begin collecting pictures....we got bombarded in the end...it is easier to do it as you go along, and sadly we missed alot of our "firsts" skills labs, IV day etc...dont forget the camera everyone.Second...we made our own yearbook. I contacted the graphic art department and asked the instructor if one of her students would like to make us a cover...and he did, his name is Voltaire and he did an incredible job...THANK YOU DELTA GRAPHICS ART PROGRAM! Third, and not lastly...guys, truly enjoy every second. There were so many times, I wanted to run away, cry, oh and did I cry. I look back, and see how far I have come, how far we all have come, and it is truly amazing, how much you grow into your own within this program. Take care of eachother, help eachother. Smile, laugh....become a solid team all 100 of you, can help eachother. Lift up your fellow student on their bad day...give them some advice, a little time...a little kindness will go a very long way guys. Love the moments you are in, while you are in them, they only come once in a lifetime. Make every bit of the time you have with your patients, a special time...some of your patients have no other support in their illness, except for the staff...remember that in report, you will hear things about the behavior of one of your patients, you will think, " can't I have another patient?" truly....these are the patients that need you the most...a little bit of listening, patience, kindness, empathy, compassion...can change someones' life...this is the truest gift one can give...of their time, of their ability to be "in the moment", and it will change you as well. I, and our class, wish you all the very best that nursing has to offer you all. You will all become such close friends, confidants, nurses....together. Love nursing for all it is, all it can be, all that you make it to be. Discover yourself, you will be surprised to find all the gifts that you have inside your heart to share with others. Bless the world with your peace. That stethescope, that student nurse being that you are, symbolizes hundreds of years, as the most compassionate, selfless job in the world. Honor tradition, and be proud.May you all be blessed with good health, 72 percents, and let the pathomapping God's be with you all.

Your fellow RN 2 BChristine MolesGraduating class May 2007
Kaplan NCLEX review course has been around for many, many years and has helped many RN's pass their state boards.

I am the student rep for the soon to be graduating class, this May and will be taking KAPLAN along with many of my fellow students. I am looking for a rep from your class, the rep will recieve their KAPLAN course paid for them, if there is a certain amount of people signing up from your class. The first email that I recieve will be given the center director's email address so that they may set up the time and meeting place for him to come. I contacted Julie Lang, was given a room and Scott brought pizza, drinks, and all the information. As well as doing that, he set up a course to be offered at our school, rather than in Sacramento...very nice.

Below is a link to kaplan....again please email me if you are looking at getting the best course out there for free......Take care all, Christine Moles
