Dan,
Sonata & Versed.
Both of those can be found in the pharm book. I discovered Sonata when I was in pharm, it is like a students best friend. Sonata is the shortest acting sleep aid that I know of. It pumps in and back out through your blood brain barrier fast. You can take it at 3am when you discover that you will not be able sleep and still get up at 5 and not feel any lingering effects. It is good for those who can't get their brains to power down. It does not keep you asleep, it only slaps you upside the head long enough to, allow you to drop off(you do not feel drugged, you just are able to got to sleep naturally). It is good for the night before a test when you are too wired to sleep. Ambien on the other hand requires you to have 8 hours available to sleep. It will also help you stay asleep. Ambien would not work for me. I would feel awful and miserable all day if I tried to sleep that long.
